I Teach Women in Medicine How to Take Care of Their Lives Without Sacrificing Their Career or Personal Life

I'm Dr. Sasha Shillcutt. I'm a physician, gender equity researcher, speaker, author, wife, mom of four amazing kids, and Founder/CEO of Brave Enough.

I founded Brave Enough after a successful career climb as a clinical scientist and national expert. Despite my professional success, I found myself empty and deeply lonely. So... I started a community! Women need each other and we're at our best when we are showing up for ourselves and each other.

Through my book, talks, courses, coaching, membership site, and in-person events, I have inspired tens of thousands of women to believe in themselves and their innate value. I have taught women in medicine to take control of their time and, in doing so, take back control of their life.

If You Want the In-Depth Story, Here is the Scoop:

I am a tenured and endowed Professor and the Vice Chair of Strategy in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. For nearly two decades, I have practiced anesthesiology and am doubled boarded in both cardiac anesthesiology and advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography.

I have been an NIH-funded researcher through the National Institute of Aging and I serve as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Anesthesiology. I have held national leadership positions in the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists and currently serve on the National Board of Echocardiography Advanced PTeEXAM Writing Board, where I have the honor of crafting board exams for the next generation of cardiac anesthesiologists.

And because of these experiences…

After my first decade in academia, I became increasingly focused on the challenges facing women working in male-dominated fields.

In 2016, I created Brave Enough.

What is now a successful company all started with me writing a blog where I shared my own struggles in being a working mom. I knew I was supposed to help other women overcome setbacks, bias, burnout and being chronically overwhelmed. Now Brave Enough has grown to be a successful organization that includes an annual CME conference, luxury retreats for professional women, and a place where I get to coach women professionals, leaders and physicians.

My first book, Between Grit and Grace: How to be Feminine and Formidable, has sold thousands of copies and my second book, Brave Boundaries: Strategies to Say No, Stand Strong, and Take Control of Your Time has helped thousands of readers implement work life JOY. My podcast, The Brave Enough Show, currently has over 325,000 downloads.

I am a TEDx speaker. I enjoy encouraging audiences around the world to find their inner motive, create strong boundaries to protect their wellbeing, and pursue their passions, and I hope I get to help you!
